Why are hospitals getting rid of their gift shops?

even though hospital gift shops are usually quite overpriced they are very convenient, a couple of local hosptials have gotten rid of there gift shops completely which i do not understand, while a lot still have gift shops i dont quite get why some have gotten rid of them. what is a reason this would happen?
