Time Travel?

It seems to me that as we can now project parts of atoms from one place to the other (Captain Kirk style), that we still have a problem for the future. You actually replicate the original object, but the original is destroyed. If we were able to eventually do the same for humans; would that mean we would just be jelly? For you cannot transfer the soul. Any ideas ?
